Once the only deity worshiped in the Valenpoint Peninsula, some say in all of Eryx, Qamar’s power has begun to wane in the last centuries as new deities reach prominence. The faithful seem unafraid of that fact: they claim that the waxing and waning of their goddess is a natural cycle, which has already occurred many times before. In time, she will be the foremost deity of Eos again.
A goddess intrinsically bound to the rhythms of the sky, the tides and the female form, Qamar sanctifies all these things into a single, undivided whole. There hasn’t been a single male High Priest of the faith in recorded history, though many of the lay folk and preachers are men: they may not embody the sacred feminine, but all can understand and worship the divine mother and appreciate her many blessings.
Qamar’s name is often invoked by sailors when they set out in voyages, as well as by midwives and women of nobility or royalty. Qamar’s clergy actively sponsors the ascension of women to positions of power and influence, especially in the wake of the Samaran Empire’s male-dominated rule.
