Known as a god of the Thri-Kreen, the Celestial Mantis does accept followers of all races, and in Klinerra, a continent far to the East, his worship is quite common among humans.
The Celestial Mantis proclaims that the universe should operate like a sacred bureaucracy. Every person, every thing and every thought has a pre-ordained place and time, and once everything finds their due station, the entire multiverse will be elevated to an everlasting, peaceful and jubilant nirvana. In many ways, the Celestial Mantis is a god of stasis, of un-ending, eternal order.
While the concept is alien to many from Valenpoint, this belief has nonetheless found great traction elsewhere, and entire nations structure themselves as an earthly mirror of the Celestial Mantis’ sacred bureaucracy. These law-abiding nations tend to be safe, peaceful and prosperous, though dissenting voices and opinions are rapidly quieted through draconian laws. For those not initiated with the faith, establishing a discourse can be incredibly hard, as there are rules of etiquette governing every interaction, and seemingly-innocuous breaches can be disastrous. To make matters worse, many of these rules of etiquette were formalized with Thri-Kreen bodies in mind, and other races have great difficulty emulating the motions and sounds expected of them.
For those who do manage to adapt into the Celestial Mantis’ structure, however, the benefits are many. Although seen as cold, distant and alien from the outside, the followers are incredibly altruistic with each other, and the very structure of the sacred bureaucracy inspires a degree of meritocracy and justice not found in most other societies. Those who convert need never want for anything ever again, and are set free to find their due place in the multiverse. Unsurprisingly, this ethos has lead to the rise of nations with fantastically powerful magic-users, manifesters and wielders of the divine, as the entire rest of the society are more than willing to work doubly hard to allow these august personages to devote every moment of their lives to their craft.
