1. Keep IC and OOC separate;
2. Do not godmode, do not metagame;
3. The moderators and admins are to be your first resource to adjudicate differences with other players;
4. As concerns IC events, moderators and admins always have the final word;
5. The forum and room are to be kept PG-13;
6. Don't be a douche. This includes OOC disrespectful conduct, intentional disruption of roleplay or OOC bigotry;
7. The preferred post perspective is third person, postlength should match the surrounding play as much as possible;
8. Give due warning if you must abandon a roleplay or stop participating for a time, and preferably also set things up for your character to either leave the scene, or fade to the background;
A further, relevant guideline concerns motifs, themes and tone. Valen is intended, for the most part, as a light-hearted, adventurous and positive experience. While every character needs a touch of darkness in and around them to find adversity in, avoid wallowing in those elements too much, or your roleplay may start to dissonate from the rest of the setting.
Valen's setting is within the broader D&D multiverse. While that is a very broad milieu where almost any character can fit in with a bit of creativity and elbow-grease, avoid directly contradicting the canon or disturbing the setting's themes and tones. When in doubt, contact an admin or moderator, and remember to KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
