Race: Half-Elf
Class: Aristocrat 5
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Faith: Worshipper of the Twins
A lifelong statesman from a well-respected and wealthy merchant family, Connaith was one of the youngest men ever to to rise into the Senate, from there into the Cabinet and finally into a very long career as Lord Steward. By this point, Connaith has been involved with Valen’s politics for over seventy years, and for many it is almost unthinkable that he would ever be completely removed from government. It would be like trying to replace one of the very hills the city was built on.
Connaith established his brand as a politician early on as a shrewd negotiator, a man who favours peace, reason and endless deliberation over direct action. It is telling that over his long career he has relatively few grand triumphs to brag about, but the fact that the career has lasted this long in a city known to sack its politicians when they fail is great endorsement of his ability to eventually find the most sensible and wise course out of any predicament.
Aligned with the merchants of Valen, as well as with some of the less martial noble families, Connaith has been campaigning to focus the nation’s wealth towards the welfare of those struck in the recent war, into the rebuilding of infrastructure and the expansion of trade and exploration beyond Valenpoint. It is his belief that the famous Riders of Valen, who played a large part in winning the recent war, are now an unnecessary expense that should be cut back on, for the good of the realm. In Connaith’s mind, Valen’s greatest strengths are economic and political, and they should play into those.
