Race: Thri-Kreen
Class: Paladin 9
Alignment: Lawful Good
Faith: The Celestial Mantis
The distant Kingdom of the Celestial Mantis heard of the undead attack on the Valenpoint Peninsula only distantly. No similar event occurred in their territories in far-flung Klinerra, and for most of the Thri-Kreen rulers of the nation, hearing the news was just one more instant of distant, exotic Eryx being as outlandish as it always seemed to be. Trade with Valenpoint, in any case, was not that important for the Kingdom, so most seemed quite content to just let events take their own course.
Chak-Tha believed differently. The legendary, seasoned Paladin took it upon himself to visit the emperor, and put his case before him. Yes, the people of the Valenpoint Peninsula were untamed barbarians, and yes, they were of no importance to the Kingdom. But the undead have no place in the Celestial Bureaucracy, and the warriors of the Kingdom deserved the opportunity to prove their mettle against such a foe. Some say the emperor remained reluctant, and that only Chak'Tha's mention of his Holy Order's divine duty to combat the undead wherever they rise could change this mind. By all accounts, Chak-Tha and his retinue were going to depart for Valenpoint whether the emperor allowed them or not. Eventually, the master of that distant realm relented.
Three warships brought Chak-Tha and his battalion to Valenpoint, where they were received with equal parts awe and fear. Most of the humans in the region had never seen a Thri-Kreen before, and they seemed fearsome indeed. Though they arrived late in the campaign, it is very likely that Chak-Tha’s arrival was the final nail in the Reborn Realm’s proverbial coffin. With a large force of well-disciplined warriors, a few war-skyships available and an elite unit composed entirely of paladins, Chak-Tha cut through the undead like a hot knife through butter.
Now, peace has come to Valenpoint. Chak-Tha can see that the humans of Valen look at him with fear and distrust, and he is perceptive enough to understand that they suspect he will try to wrest control of the city. For him, these ideas are the source of great offence. Don’t these people know what a paladin is? Regardless of how he is perceived, Chak-Tha keeps his contingent close at hand, and seeks out the remnants of his undead foes. He suspects this war is not quite over yet.
